Brothers and sisters are the closest to us. We grow up with them, and even if we do not get along sometimes, there is a strong bond between us.
It is often in the home where we learn to obey the Bible and in particular verses such as Ephesians 4:32, which tells us, “And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.”
We learn what unconditional love is and can forgive any disagreements. It is, therefore, devastating when a sibling is taken from us through death. A sister’s loss can tear out our hearts, but remember that God is as near as a prayer.
Before you start, save these prayers when spreading ashes.
1) Short Prayer for the Loss of Your Sister
“Heavenly Father,
I am in deep pain right now because my sister passed away. I want to thank You for allowing me the privilege of knowing (sister’s name).
I miss her so much, but I know that You and her are here to comfort me right now. Please, Father, shine Your eternal light and guide her path to Heaven.
Give me the courage and strength to grieve for her so that my faith can be stronger too.
I ask this in Your name, Amen.”

Even in grief, we can take courage and pray. A sister’s death is not easy.
But, Deuteronomy 31:6 gives us perfect words, as it says:
“Be strong and of good courage; fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the Lord thy God, He it is that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.”

We can know that our loved ones are with the Lord when they die. We know this because there is life after death.
When Jesus was on the cross, He said these words: “And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, Today shalt thou be with me in paradise.” — Luke 23:43.

Many people do not realize the pain of sibling loss. Even so, for believers and prayerful people, we know we grieve, but not without hope.
As 1 Thessalonians 4:13 says:
“But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.”

We often never expect that a sibling will die before us, especially if it is a sudden death. However, always remember that God is always near to comfort us.
Also, remember that you have those around you who will comfort you too.
As 1 Chronicles 7:22 says, “And Ephraim their father mourned many days, and his brethren came to comfort him.”
6) Scripture for the Loss of a Sister
“Dear Father,
My heart is crushed today because my sister (sister’s name) passed away. She took a piece of me when she left to be by Your side.
I ask for Your strength to come out of this battle and the courage to face the days ahead of me. Be my peace and that of everyone mourning like me.
I thank You that I can depend on Your words of comfort in the loss of my sister. You told me this in Matthew 5:4, “Blessed are they that mourn, for they shall be comforted.”
Amen.”

One of the best ways to call on God in spirit and truth is to pray from His Word. His promises stand firm. By using scripture to pray, we know that we are assured of those promises and their fulfillment in our lives.
7) Comforting Bible Verses For Death Of A Sister
“Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.”
Psalm 23:4
“Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you?”
John 14:1-2
Philippians 1:3
It is so wonderful that God left us a book with every kind of help in any need. He gave us His scriptures to bring us comfort in times of grief.
It is therefore important to do as Joshua 1:8 says:
“This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth, but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.”

Should I Pray for Someone Who Has Passed Away?
Praying for someone who has passed away is an individual choice. Those who pass away depart the earth in spirit. You therefore have a choice of whether you want to pray for them or not.
The Bible says this in Isaiah 25:8. “He will swallow up death in victory; and the Lord God will wipe away tears from off all faces.”
Can I Ask God To Help The Deceased To Rest?
Sometimes, people have not completed a task on earth. When death occurs suddenly, it is important to ask God to intervene. Rest is for the righteous.
As it says in Proverbs 14:32, “The wicked is driven away in his wickedness: but the righteous hath hope in his death.”
When Can I Start Praying the Prayers?
It is even more important when we face a crisis, such as the death of a sibling, to pray immediately. God appreciates it when we honor Him with our deepest and most heartfelt requests. You can therefore start praying at any time.
Are These Prayers Really Miraculous?
Know that these prayers are miraculous. As Matthew 19:26 says, “But Jesus beheld them and said unto them, With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”
Final Thoughts
If your sister passes away it can break your heart into pieces. It is one of the deaths that we often do not expect and that is often overlooked.
However, we can find comfort in God and His Word. Pray to the Father to touch your heart and restore your soul. As Psalm 23:3 says, “He restoreth my soul.”
When it comes to God, we are never left to fend for ourselves
