A note from our Committee Chair:
A lot of you have been awaiting more information about the scout uniform. We are wanting to keep things really simple and as inexpensive as possible for all concerned. That said, we do want some standards that aren’t too non-compliant with cub scouting in general. To that end we’ve put together a fairly simple list of items for how the boys and adult leaders should be attired.
Please note: you do not need to purchase the neckerchief or slide for your scout – this will be covered by the pack.
Uniforms, books, and supplies may be purchased at the Twin Cities Area Scout Shops.

I’m proud to announce Pack 592 will start with 29 boys (5 applications are still coming in) and 14 registered leaders. We have strong pack and den leadership and there are still a couple volunteer positions open. Within the next month, I’m sure we’ll get those filled but it is important that we do fill them.
In the next few days, expect to receive e-mails about:
- Pack and den rosters
- Popcorn fundraiser
- Training
- The first Committee Meeting (open to all parents)
- The first Pack Meeting
- Where to buy uniforms and what to buy
- The Investiture Ceremony at Saint Agnes (we’ll have a solemn ceremony in the upper Church)
In the mean time, thank you for your continued patience. Things might be a little bumpy at first but we’re off to a fantastic start.
Be sure to take a look at the resources on our web site. View the links along the top: About Pack 592, About Scouting, and Leader Resources. Some of the answers to your questions will be found on those pages. The most recent version of our calendar will be available on our web site. It’s the top link in the column to the right of the web site.
Finally, thank you for your support. We couldn’t have a Catholic Scouting program without it.
Have you ever wondered what Catholic Scouting is like elsewhere in the world? Provided below is a video that captures the essence of the Catholic Scouting movement in Continental Europe. The video is produced by the Katholische Pfadfinderschaft Europas, the German branch of the Catholic Scouts of Europe. The first link is a snippet from the 20 minute video that shows a glimpse into their liturgical life. The second link is the full video; the snippet begins at 14:40.
Es ist wirklich Ausgezeichnet!

It’s still early but as it stands now, twenty-eight boys signed up or are in the process of signing up for our Cub Scout program at Saint Agnes.
If you didn’t have the opportunity to sign up today, please stop by our Planning Meeting on Monday, Sept. 29 to register. Each boy and adult who registers at or before our Planning Meeting is eligible to receive a free Minnesota Timberwolves ticket.
As of Sept. 21, here’s a summary of membership broken down by den (age group):
- 1st Grade, Tiger Den, 6 boys
- 2nd Grade, Wolf Den, 5 boys
- 3rd Grade, Bear Den, 9 boys
- 4th Grade, Webelos I Den, 4 boys
- 5th Grade, Webelos II Den, 4 boys
In addition, several long-time Saint Agnes parishioners have expressed a desire to volunteer to make the pack run. This type of commitment is especially heartening because it makes a good situation even better and together, we’ll be able to implement a Scouting program well suited to our needs at Saint Agnes.
The numbers are encouraging for several reasons. First, there are enough families interested to form a pack. If there were any doubts before; they’re gone now. Second, there are enough boys in each den for them to have a great time together and the den sizes are manageable. Lastly, we have enough parents to make the pack run and if everyone pitches in a little, no one will be burdened – even with our already busy lives.
More important than the numbers, of course, is seeing the wonderful families of the parish take the initiative to make this happen.

A special thanks goes to Father Ubel for his strong support, to Andy Ubel and the members of Pack and Troop 67 at Nativity of Our Lord Church who want to see us succeed (and graciously helped with this event), to the Boy Scouts from Saint Agnes who assisted, and the volunteers and executives at the District and Council levels who are actively supporting us. Thank you.
