Sign Up for Cub Scouting at Saint Agnes on Sunday, August 23rd
When: 9:00 AM – 1:30 PM
Where: Schuler Hall
Did you know that Saint Agnes has a Scouting program? Due to interest, Saint Agnes re formed its Cub Scout pack last year and we’re using our old pack number, Pack 592. After Mass on August 23rd, stop down in Schuler Hall to learn more about Cub Scouting and sign up to join our pack.
Cub Scouting includes a variety of fun and exciting activities for boys in the first through fifth grades.
Cub Scouting:
- Involves a variety of family activities
- Encourages good behavior
- Teaches lifelong values
- Strengthens the bonds of family
This is a great way for families of the parish to get to know each other and home schooling families are very welcome to join.
If you were involved in Saint Agnes’ scouting program in years past, please consider volunteering for this event. Your presence, photographs, and/or memorabilia would be appreciated. The help of current Boy Scouts – especially Eagle Scouts – would also be appreciated.
For more information, please contact Thomas Schaeffer at TSchaeffer@ijcweb.com or 651-774-4545.
The following are some important notes regarding tomorrow’s ceremonies:
Investiture Ceremony
Cubs and leaders: there will be a practice for the Investiture Ceremony at 12:30. Please meet in the lower chapel.
The Investiture Ceremony will begin at 1:00 PM. Cubs and all leaders will meet in the sacristy for the procession.
Family members and guests should sit as close to the front as possible as a baptism will be taking place. The front rows of pews will be reserved for the Dens. Another pew will be reserved for the leaders (other than Den Leaders, who will sit with their dens).
Each Den will have their own pew. When sitting in the pew, the Den Leaders will be the last to sit in the pew (they will be nearest the aisle). When getting out of the pew, they will lead the way.
As a part of the Investiture Ceremony, your son will be at the altar rail and will recite the Cub Scout Promise. Please review the Cub Scout Promise with him. When you practice, also practice the proper form (standing, giving the Cub Scout sign).
When the ceremony is finished, please exit through the side doors on the left side of the church, in case the baptism is still taking place. As we head downstairs, four leaders should bring the flags and stands down to Schuler Hall. They will need to be set up in front (south end of Schuler Hall).
Commissioning Ceremony
As we head down to Schuler Hall, we should all sit towards the south end of Schuler Hall. Families are encouraged to sit together. Father Ubel and Michael Misner-Elias will be conducting the ceremony. All leaders will have a small role in the ceremony.
Following the ceremony will be a brief reception.
Congratulations, we officially started a Cub Scout Pack at the Church of Saint Agnes!
There is a Committee Meeting this Monday from 7:00-8:00 PM in Schuler Hall. The purpose of the meeting is to plan all of the events and meetings for the year. Please bring your calendars!
Dear Scouts -
Thank you so much for your help with cleanup at the Festival.
God Bless you all for your service.

A note from our Committee Chair:
A lot of you have been awaiting more information about the scout uniform. We are wanting to keep things really simple and as inexpensive as possible for all concerned. That said, we do want some standards that aren’t too non-compliant with cub scouting in general. To that end we’ve put together a fairly simple list of items for how the boys and adult leaders should be attired.
Please note: you do not need to purchase the neckerchief or slide for your scout – this will be covered by the pack.
Uniforms, books, and supplies may be purchased at the Twin Cities Area Scout Shops.
